Why Your Domains Should Match the Keyword ExactlySearch engine marketing is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. The rush to capture a great domain name is similar to the gold rush that swept over America during the 19th century. One of the keys to successful search engine marketing is to base each site around a particular keyword. Each site doesn't have to be especially large in its size (and in the amount of pages that it has), so it is perfectly feasible to have a site paired to each keyword. However, when doing keyword research you should always check that the keyword that you are looking to invest in is available for either a '.com', '.net' or '.org' domain name. These have been proven (and I have extensively tested them myself) to be far more beneficial as they are far more likely to get your site ranked for that keyword. Simply adding in another keyword at the start or at the end of the domain (as many people do if the URL is not free) such as the word 'review' will drastically reduce your chances of attaining a top ranking. Also, adding in a hyphen or two in between the words (such as 'my-keyword.com') will make your site look 'spammy' and will give you less authority with the search engines (especially with Google). Following this principle will make your keyword research a lot harder, and you may often feel like it is not worth the extra effort, but just think about how much easier it will be to rank in Google once you have the exact keyword as your domain name.
