In 2010 a successful home based business can not be run completely offline. So much business can be done on the internet and it's so cost effective and easy that more and more old school network marketers are getting online. And if you're going to run a business online you of course have to have a website. Most all home based businesses will provide you with a company website where new members and new reps can sign up.

However that is really the extent of their usefulness. If you are just using your company website you are missing out on a lot. In order to be the most successful you can be you need another website. On that is your own and one that is more simple and easy to navigate. Most company websites offer too much information, it's not focused and it's not captivating. When sending someone to your website you want them to see one thing... what's in it for them.

So the most effective websites are simple and usually only have a video or two with information and that's it. They don't need to know the entire compensation plan breakdown and they don't need a super detailed description of each and every product for that they can pick up the phone and call you. The website is just to peak their interest and get them excited enough to call you on the phone.

Now that we've established that you need your own unique website let's talk about one of the most important elements, the domain name. Choosing your domain name is very important. You want it to be simple and memorable at the same time and you always, always, always want it to end in.com. I don't care how many people tell you that.info or.net or.org is ok..com is ALWAYS best.

Try to find a domain name that will stick in people's minds. And something that is not easily spelled wrong. Also if you are able to put any good keywords in your domain name that is always good as well. Using keywords will help you get in the search engines and help more people find your website.

Once you think of a great domain name and you know that it's available register it right away! You don't want to miss out on a great website just because you waited too long. Choosing the best domain name for your business is important so have fun, be creative and choose wisely!
